Introduction:

Hello, we are from Kirovograd, Ukraine.

We study at school #25. It’s a lyceum. The school is very big. There are three floors in the building and many classrooms in it. There are grades from 1 to 11 and a lot of children in them. There are about 30 or even more students in each of them. There are more than 1000 students in school.

Our school is well-equipped. We have a lot of specialized classrooms for learning different subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, English, Computer Technologies, Physical Education, workshops and others.

There is a big Assembly hall, a library, two classes for choreography classes.

As for us, we are the students of the 7th grade. We study a lot of subjects, but the most favorite are English, German, History, Physical Training and some others. We study a lot of subjects.

Besides we have got a lot of extracurricular activities. There are a lot of different clubs at our school: dancing, singing, music, handicrafts and a sports club. Our students have the opportunity to play basketball, volleyball, football and do many other sports. We love sports.

Many students are talented and attend music schools, arts school, sport schools, different dancing groups, there are many of them in the town.

Our town is located in the center of Ukraine, it’s a regional center. It’s not very large. The population of it is 232 thousand people. The most part of it are Ukrainians, though it’s a multinational state. People of different nations live in the town. They are Russian, Jews, Tatars, Moldovans, Hungarians, Polish people and others. All of them are friendly to each other.

Our town is beautiful, it is often called “Small Paris”. We have a lot of interesting and beautiful places to go, watch and admire. The town is very green in summer. There are a lot of trees and flowers everywhere. Our dendrology park is amazing, it’s the favorite place of all the inhabitants. People can entertain and breathe fresh air.

Our Musical Drama theatre is great, it was the cradle of the first Ukrainian professional theatre. Now the building is modern and beautiful.

The town is rather old, it was founded in 1754. Many old buildings remind us about the history of the town and the country. Many famous people lived and worked here.

As to Children’ Rights LC, we think it’s a very important topic, especially nowadays. We discussed the topic previously and understood that we were to research the topic. Who must do it? If it’s important for us, we must do it. Children have many problems in our country, in other countries, for example, in Syria. So children of the world must take care of themselves.

We are ready to start our LC.

Contributions Challenge 1:

New victims of the war are children.

New realities of the day connected with the war in Donbas caused pain, tragedies, broken fates of thousands of children in Ukraine. They have already experienced such hardships, which are difficult to overcome even for adults. Death of parents and close relatives, days and nights spent in cellars under the artillery shots, showers of “Grads’” fire, forgotten way to school-all these have been the sign of children’s life in Donbas.

Children have become adults when they saw the death of their relatives, destroyed native cities, sudden escape from the native homes.

Children have already known such words as bombs, artillery shot, injury, death and they always feel worry. Children who have been in the center of the war in the east saw their cities and homes being destroyed, heard the sounds of the mine explosions have certain psychological traumas and need special psychological help.

A lot of families with children escaped from the east and live in safe towns, cities or villages as it’s clear that to be a refugee is better than to live with tanks near the homes.

It’s obviously, that each child must have a safety home. It doesn’t mean, that all the refugees have good living conditions and are provided with all they need. Our country is poor and besides there is a war. There are the laws protecting the rights of refugees, but they often don’t work. There are some organizations which try to help them. Nevertheless, their life is not so easy.

I have a friend from Stakhanov,Luhansk region. Her name is Anna Yakimchuk. She is 13 years old. She is in the 7th from. She lives in Kirovohrad and goes to a local school.
In 2014 when the war in the east Ukraine began her family moved to Kirovohrad.
L:Do you miss home?
A:Yes,of course, I miss my home, school and friends.
L:Do you keep in touch with your friends and relatives?
A:No, but mum sometimes calls to our relatives. We miss them so much.
L: Would you like to came back home now?
A:Not now. It is dangerous.
L:When the was finishes will you come back?
A:I dan't know my parents have good jobs and I have a lot of friends at school. I am not sure about the future.
L:Do you like to be here?
A:Yes, it is OK. I have met a lot of new friends, I like my teachers. I may say that I like living here but, of course, I miss my home.

Life in a terrible dream

Hello!

My name is Ann Moroz. Today I have interviewed the girl, who was the victim of war. Her name is Anna Sidorenko. She is 14 years old. She is from Donetsk.

Here is the interview:

I: Hello!

Anna: Hi!

I: How are you?

Anna: I am fine.

I: Can I ask you about your life?

Anna: Yes, of course.

I: Where are you now?

Anna: Now, I am at home.

I: Really?

Anna: Yes. All is quiet already.

I: I know, you lived with your grandmother in Kirovograd.

Anna: Yes.

I: Why?

Anna: I didn`t have a choice. One night I was awakened by explosions and shots. It was terrible. The war came to my town. Then, I moved to Kirovograd.

I: And your parents?

Anna: They stayed at home.

I: Did you miss home?

Anna: I really wanted to return. There were parents, school, friends and just my life.

I: Was it difficult to be away from home?

Anna: Yes. I worried about parents. I was afraid of losing them.

I: Is all well now?

Anna: Yes, I am in Donetsk. I go to school. It is peacefully here now.

I: What can you say in the end?

Anna: Appreciate each moment of life, because tomorrow may not be.

I: Oh, it`s true.

To say it short, remember the words, that Anna told.

Don`t lose your human qualities.

Valeria Nazarova, the student of the 7th grade wrote the poem.

All people say that they are right

But is it true or isn't right

You must say yourself.

Somebody say that war is bad

All tell that it is fool

But you decide it on your own

And don't interfere in the grown

Because the child is the main

And you must defend him all the day

His life, his health and give some help

To have them dreams, you must protect!

Zyryanov Ihor, the student of the 7-th grade drew the picture.

Contributions Challenge 2:

We’re sure, that all people of the world have the right to good food, clean water and health care, especially children. Unfortunately, nowadays it’s not as good as it should be. Sure, the children in our country, who live in families, have everything for life: good food, clothes, all the possibilities for the harmonious development.  Though there’re a lot of poor families, where the income is very low and there’s a problem of quality food in such families. So the food is not healthy as it must be, because the matter is not to be hungry, and it’s more important for them to have any kind of food to feed the children.

As for the children, who are homeless, it’s a great problem for them to have healthy food. By the way, officially, there are no homeless children. All the children, who have no parents, must live in children’s homes, but some of them don’t want to live there and try to escape. Some of them still some food and feed themselves. Some are beggared.

But we should say, that even in successful families nowadays there are some financial problems as everything is getting expensive all the time including the food prices. That’s why, we can’t say, that healthy food is available to everybody in our country. As to clean drinking water, we’re provided with drinkable water, but it’s not very healthy as water in the country isn’t cleaned very well, that’s why the people try to clean it themselves or use boiled water.

It’s a pity, we know there’re countries, in which children really don’t have the right to good food and any water to drink. We’re sure it’s not fair and people must do their utmost to improve the situation.

Health care is a great problem  in our country and some countries as well. Health care and medical service are considered to be free of charge in our country. As a matter of fact, all operations, analyses and some other services must be paid for. It’s not cheap and all drugs are very expensive in the country. We know, in the countries, where the system of medical insurance exists, it’s easier to get medical services there for everybody. Unfortunately there’s no medical insurance in our country. The question was widely discussed, but the problem hasn’t been solved yet. So if a family is poor, they don’t have many opportunities to have good health care. Though, there’s a regular compulsory medical examination for school pupils and students. Besides, teachers, doctors, shop-assistants are regularly examined and they are not allowed to get down to work without it.

To sum it up, the essential part of family income is spent on medical costs. To enable the change , bribary and corruption must be overcome, then there will be enough money to provide free medical service.

Education and protection against child labour.

According to the Convention of Children’s Rights every child in the world has the right to education. In our country secondary education is compulsory and every child must attend school. Education Department observes the exercising of the Law. Sometimes there’re the facts, when children escape from children’s shelters and they don’t go to school. But in these cases they are looked for and found, then they are taken to their place of living. There they study at school by all means.

In our town all children go to school. Educational rules in our country are very strict, that’s why nobody tries to break them.

In general children in our country do not work. There may be some cases, when parents are beggers and they make their children beg too. But it’s forbidden and they are punished by the Law.

As to protection against child’s labor’ we don’t need to protect it, because it really doesn’t exist. It’s very important for every child to get education at school. The result of it is that a lot of children after school enter universities and academies. They get higher education and become qualified specialists. We know all that exactly and it’s evident for us, as all our acquaintances and relatives experience all that.

We’re not sure that it would be good if children had the opportunities to choose the right to go to school or not. Children not always want to study and maybe some of them would refuse going to school as they don’t understand what’s important for their future.

Some schoolchildren may have part-time work on summer holidays. They don’t work during school semesters. So those, who work in summer may earn their pocket money. All other children get the money from their parents.

Child’s labor.

Frankly speaking, most of us have “cool” clothes, gadgets and other things. We know, in what countries they are produced, but we don’t know, whom they are produced by. We even didn’t think about it at all. There’s no use of not buying them, because we aren’t, sure who they have produced them. In our opinion it’s not a way out. We think, that some Global actions should be taken. The Laws should be equal in the whole world: children all over the world must be given the right to education and child’s labor must be forbidden and strictly punished. Governments and employers must be responsive.

A letter to Urmila.

Dear Urmila,

When we read about your hard life in the childhood, some of us cried as we all sympathize with you. We can’t even imagine ourselves in such living conditions. How can 6-aged child such a hard work for the whole day? it’s just impossible. As for us we simply couldn’t cook or do any other work. None of our parents are able to to let their children work anywhere. Even teenagers in our country do not work, because their parents don’t want them work. Parents wish their children to be educated and to apply for a prestigious job.

We appreciate your present life and help to girls. You are very courageous and kind. Despite your hard life in your childhood you have the wish to help other people. It’s very noble of you.  We consider you to be a great personality. It’s great to be able to be so kind and generous.

We are proud of you, be so good and just as you are.

Be happy and healthy, have a good family and a decent job!

Thank you!

Best wishes.

My teachers

Oh what can I tell about teachers? My teachers are intelligent and kind. I think, that all teachers are good, because they are teaching us and show us how we must behave in the socirty. All our teachers can explain all that we need. If we ask anything, they will tell us useful answers. All lessonss are good and interesting, but my favourite lessons are English, German, Ukrainian. I think in Canada lessons are interesting too.

Good day! Sorry l am so late posting,it is my text

Hi, i want to tell you about my school. My school is good, but it is not ideal. I think, that the one of the ideal schools for me is in Canada. In Canada all schools were built in British or English style. So, we know that British people have a good style and schools they made very good and fashionable. There are some ideas about English school and our school. I want to compare two schools, one in Canada and our school our school: + - we have an eatery we don`t have own cupboard we have a computer classes some of our classes are old

Canada school:

+ -

They have an eatery too For me, Canadian school

They have cupboards too has one minus, this schlol

All classes in Canada have computers is too far

Hmm... of course i want to study in Canadian school, but our school in Ukraine is one of the modern and good. And what about yours?
