Introduction:

Hi everybody,

we are a group of students from Ukraine. Our school is Kirovograd Collegium.

collegium.mov

We are in the 6th grade and we are 11-12 years old. Some of us have already participated in GTP project and for most of us it's the first GTP project.

We live in a amazing city . See with your own eyes.

Our City Kirovograd.f4v

We had a disccusion about children's rights and we made a kind of a puzzle , so while completing the puzzle everybody had a chance to share his or her ideas.

Hello, my name is Elya . I think it is important that each child had his or her rights. Every child has the right: to freedom of thought and belief, the right to protection from violence, exploitation and conflict, etc.

Hello,My name is Anna.I'm 11 Yearls old.I think all children

have the right to be educated. It is very important in our life.Without

education people can't find a new job.

When we study we learnt about the world,we can write and read.Only

educated people can change the world for the better.

Hello, my name's David Romanyak. I think the right to safe home is important 'cause children must study at school, they must relax and live a normal lifeSo they can't do it without safe roof over their heads. Children also can't live with bombs over  their roofs.

Hi everybody, I think that not all the rights are mentioned in the Convention. I think that every student has the right to study badly, and it is also everybody's own choice. We all have this right and we can choose what to do with this. Nobody should force the kids to study in a perfect way.

Hi, my name is Amin. I study at Kirovograd Collegium. I believe that the right to adequate medical care is important , because any child needs someone to help him or her as a child can not cure himself or herself.

Contributions Challenge 1:

Safe house is equal to Happy family, and a happy family is made up of a lot of things:

The house is made of logs and beams,

The family is made with love and dreams.

We also think that as the planet  Earth is our home then it is good to have a safe home on the Earth which is not polluted

Meet our classmate Stefania. Isn't she pretty?

We have talked to her. Here is her story:

Hi, I am Stefania and I am Ukrainian. I live in Kirovograd now and I study at Kirovograd Collegium.

I came here a year and a half ago from Lugansk. This city is also in Ukarine, but now it is at war.

We had a nice house there and I went to school there. We had to leave our place as it was dangerous to live there. There were bombings almost every day and people died.

I live here with my Mom and we rent an apartment. My father and my brother are at the war in Eastern part of Ukraine. We worry a lot and my Mom cries.

We are thankful to all the countries that support Ukraine and I dream I will go back to my place as I miss it a lot.

I am lucky to have so many friends here at school and in my neibourghhood.

We are the friends with Stefa and we understand her situation.

Here is our part of the song:

We're going to be friends

You are safe, here in my place

We will be together

Shelter,  warmth in cold days

Whatever the weather….

I can tell that we are gonna be friends

I can tell that we are gonna be friends

Fly a kite, Ride a bike,

Share your traditions

Draw and write, take a hike

This is my position

This is my peaceful position

And this is my greatest ambition

Feedback from: B2a, Schoonhovens College, the Netherlands

Hi students from the Kirovograd Collegium. We read your contributions to challenge 1 and this is what we think about it:

We think that you showed really well what a safe home is, not only that children have a shelter above their head, but also that they are happy and have enough to eat.

Also the role of pollution we found original, because that’s a thing which you normally don’t think of.We liked that you have combined a safe house and the polluted earth, that show that everything on earth is important to us and that we should take care of it.

We think that the drawings were pretty with good statements about a safe house and we think that you guys did well with writing the song about Stefania, we also like it that she has friends at school and in their neighbourhood after she moved. We were impressed by this personal story.

Regards, B2a

A letter to Urmila:

Dear Ms Urmila,

I was reading an article about you and your life and I was shocked and upset. I did not know that people in the 21st century could be slaves. I admire  your strength and bravery. I also want to ask you four questions.

The first question is about your education. Did you go to school when you were a slave? Secondly, I was thinking about your family. Did you remember them? Did you miss them? I am so sorry if I will hurt your feelings by asking this question. Thirdly, can you please tell me if you enjoy your new life. Finally, how did you hear about the official ban of slave-allowance in Nepal?

I look forward to hearing your answers to my questions. Sorry, if my qustions make you sad with sad memories.

Yours sincerely,

David Romanyak

Dear Ms Urmila,

I read your story and I was frightened for you and I sympathise with you a lot.

Your story has touched me aroused a lot of quetions. Will you be so kind to answer some of them?

Firstly will you please tell us about your schooling? When did you start studying and what education did you need to become  a chairman in Kamalari Girls Forum. Secondly, what gave you strength to survive and cope with everything?  I'm sure it was very difficult.  I'm happy for you and your family  that now you are not in debt. And finally, could you please say if you have assistants and helpers in your so necessary work defending children's rights?

I am looking forward to your answers.

  Yours sicerely,

  Marina Zajtseva

Dear Ms Urmila,

I read your story 5 days ago,I still can not  forget it to this day. After I have read it I have had a few guestions.I think you can answer them.

Now you have a job and thus you have education.I want to ask if you went to school?Who tought you to read and write.Everyone can be sick.I want to  ask. Were you ever sick? And who treated you?I also  want to ask you whether you had your own room and toys? Each of us needs love and affection. Was there anyone who loved and respected you?

I hope these questions won't disturb you much, though my Mom says it is sometimes right not to ask a lot from a person who has suffered.

Thank you for your answers if you have time to answer.

Yours sicerely,

Anna Gaslenko.

Completion:

Dear Jury,

We are one of the teams of wiki learning circle “Children’s Rights” and we have the honour to represent our country Ukraine in this International project.

We are a group of 11 students of the 6th grade. We are 11-12 years old.  For most of us this is the first GTP project and we have got a very new interesting experience. We like the Wiki format of the project which has given us the chance to present ourselves through pictures and video and also to get closer to the world through the presentations of our partners.

We have learned a lot about the problem of the children’s rights in the course of our work. The story of  Nepal school has touched our hearts and Urmila’s story has opened our eyes to the kids’ problems  which seem to have come from the Middle Ages. It is difficult to believe such things can happen in the 21st century.

Our country Ukraine has a local war on its territory and  It  also is difficult to believe such things can happen in the 21st century.      Some years ago we would proudly tell you that in Ukraine the children’s rights were not  violated. To our regret we should confess that today the situation is different  as now because of the  war  many families have been  forced to leave their homes , many children have lost their parents or have been wounded. It means that our country is not also an exception and we also are having problems with the violating the children’s rights.

We are sure  it is very important to speak loudly about the problems connected with the children’s rights. And this is what this GTP project is doing as discussing the Challenges in the groups and preparing the information for the project we involve more people in our circle.

We think what we need to do is to speak loudly about those who are to blame, who are guilty in violating the children’s rights. We should not be afraid, we should be brave and united in this fight for the better life on the planet.

Faithfully yours,

Kirovograd Collegium, Ukraine

Evaluation:

Dear partners and coordinators,

Completing the project we'd like to express our gratitude:

  • to those who created the project and to those who coordinated this session. There is no doubt the topic of the project is actual and important , however in the course of work we have made a lot of discoveries. we have learnt that the problem is very sharp in some parts of the world and it seems the solution is not so easy and quite far from all of us. In this way our mutual work in the project is becoming very necessary.

  • to all of our partners. The project pages have been so informative and rich in ideas, pictures, videos. We have learnt a lot about the countries participants, who have helped us to be also creative.  It is not easy to say which step of the project we liked best. The greeting page made our partners close to us and we feel we have a lot of friends. We are sure if we met we would get on well.

The main idea of the project is to focus on the problem of children's rights. We are thankful for the chance to discuss the problen in our group , to look for information , to work on the pages of the project, to draw and to create videos. The project has been a great occupation during our second semester and a chance to improve our English.

Thanks to everybody.

Best regards,

Kirovograd Collegium, Ukraine.

We are planning to make ONE Learning Circle Song, in which parts of the song from different schools are joined.
To be able to do this we are asking you a favor: Can you sing the song, film it and post the video in this school page?
